The Uplift Fund is a professional development fund for BIPOC, QTPOC, and first generation students within the College of Design. Through the fund, students can apply for up to $300 in financial support for conferences, internships, career fairs, and other needs to support professional development.

Other financial assistance opportunities

In addition to offering the Uplift Fund for students, the Multicultural Student Success (MSS) Office helps connect students to financial assistance resources from across the university as part of its mission and services. The following aid options are dependent on on eligibility and availability, and MSS can assist with questions.

  • Scholarships

    Scholarships, grants and other opportunities also are available through Iowa State University, the College of Design, and its departments. Create a profile on the university’s OneApp scholarship portal to submit scholarship applications in one system.

  • MLK Emergency Assistance

    The MLK Emergency Fund exists to assist undergraduate U.S. domestic students who identify as African American, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian American, Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, and/or Multiracial in meeting unusual and/or extenuating circumstances that may impact their academic success.
