AMES, Iowa — Trevor Kliever of Le Mars will represent the Iowa State University College of Design as its student marshal at the university’s public commencement exercises Saturday, May 11, at Hilton Coliseum. His faculty escort will be Nicole Peterson, assistant professor of interior design.

A member of the Dean’s List and top 2 percent of his class every semester at Iowa State, Kliever will graduate summa cum laude with a bachelor of fine arts in interior design. He received the Diane Engh Anderson Interior Design Scholarship, Janet Henrich Glaser Scholarship, Paragon Commercial Interiors Design Excellence Award and Janice Peterson Anderson Senior Award.

Kliever has served as a Cyclone Aide and Cyclone Aide advisor for freshman orientation, Destination Iowa State team leader for new students entering the university, Maple Hall Shilling House community advisor for the Department of Residence, president of the Orchesis II Dance Club and member of the Interior Design Student Association.

He completed a residential design internship with accents + interiors in Urbandale last summer and participated in an international field trip to Tangier, Morocco, in February, as part of an interdisciplinary spring studio course.

Kliever chose Peterson to be his faculty escort because “her classes were the most engaging, interactive and hands-on, and she is the one who helped initiate my interest in attending graduate school to become a faculty member.” He will continue his education at Iowa State in the fall when he will begin graduate study toward a master of fine arts in interior design.

The son of Ron and Jolene Kliever of Le Mars, Kliever is a 2015 graduate of Le Mars Community High School.
