Computational Methods for Soundscape Design

Merate Barakat, associate professor, architecture

Merate Barakat, who joined the faculty in the Department of Architecture in August 2023, will discuss her soundscape research, which is mediated by her investigations and teaching within the fields of architectural and computational design. Her work involves developing innovative tools that integrate qualitative concepts related to sound perception into computational systems. Through her efforts, she has advanced the understanding of how sound influences urban morphological patterns and contributes to the well-being of communities.
