College of Design College-by-College Pitch Off
February 21 @ 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Do you think you have a prize-winning business idea? The Pappajohn Center for Entrepreneurship invites you to pitch your business at the 7th Annual College-by-College Pitch Off! The competition allows students from all seven colleges at Iowa State University to showcase their innovative business ideas, with the chance to win a total of over $30,000 in cash prizes. Register early; the first 25 applicants from each college will be accepted. Additional applicants will be added to the waitlist.
The College of Design student pitch off will be held from 5:30–6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21, in room 3231 at the Student Innovation Center. Each student will present a 90-second pitch about their business ideas or concepts in front of a panel of judges. The competition features two categories to participate in: new business idea (for concepts still in the idea stage) and existing business idea (for businesses that have already generated revenue or developed prototypes/products.)
The first round of the competition will have students compete against others in their college. First-place winners in each of the two categories, from each of the seven colleges, will be awarded $500, while second-place winners will receive $250. The four winners from each college will advance to the pitch off finale, competing for a portion of the $18,000 in cash prizes. The final competition will be held from 2–5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the Launchpad in the Student Innovation Center.
For those new to pitching, workshops will be held from 4–5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at the Launchpad in the Student Innovation Center and from 11 a.m.–12:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, in the center atrium at the Student Innovation Center.
