“Fabricating Architecture: Digital Craft as Feminist Practice,” an article by Iowa State University faculty members Shelby Doyle, assistant professor and Daniel J. Huberty Faculty Fellow in Architecture, and Leslie Forehand, lecturer in architecture, was published in The Avery Review, No. 25. The article calls for the development of a more robust theoretical position about the gender implications of advanced parametric design and the use of machines to design and fabricate architecture. It explores alternative histories of digital craft as rooted in feminist practice rather than narratives of biomimicry, robotics and science.
