Associate Professors Seda McKilligan and David Ringholz and Assistant Professor Tejas Dhadphale, all from the Iowa State University Department of Industrial Design, presented a paper on “Speed dating with design thinking: An empirical study of managers solving business problems with design” at the 2017 International Association of Societies of Design Research (IASDR) Conference Oct. 31-Nov. 3 in Cincinnati, Ohio. The paper reported on a Design Thinking Workshop the team conducted on campus with administrators leading agriculture businesses, and the managers,’ directors’ and CEOs’ responses on the potential impact of design thinking into business and management issues.

McKilligan also presented a poster on “Investigating ideation flexibility through incremental to radical heuristics,” co-authored with colleagues from the University of Michigan and Pennsylvania State University.
