Seda McKilligan, an Iowa State University associate professor of industrial design, has been invited to serve a three-year term as an associate editor of Design Science Journal. Design Science publishes original qualitative and quantitative research in the creation of artifacts and systems, and their embedding in our physical, virtual, psychological, economic and social environment.

The journal also publishes reviews and survey papers with strong tutorial elements, theory papers, shorter notes (for example, pertaining to a particularly interesting exemplification of design science in a design artifact or practice), editorials, and book, software and design tool reviews. Fields contributing to Design Science include architecture; behavioral, social and cognitive sciences; life and health sciences; business; computer and information science; engineering; industrial design; and organizational and management science.
