Olivia Valentine, an Iowa State University assistant professor of art and visual culture, and composer and sound artist Paula Matthusen, an associate professor of music and chair of the music department at Wesleyan University, have collaborated on a performance and installation project that creates a feedback loop between textile construction processes and feedback-based electronic music. “between systems and grounds” connects these two systems through time, shared space and a system of sonic and visual exchanges that produce an accumulation of interrelated sound and textile artifacts. The performance and installation will take place at noon Saturday, Feb. 3, and Sunday, Feb. 4, at the Russell House at Wesleyan University. The project is funded in part by a grant from the ISU Center for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities.
