“Design thinking in engineering course design,” a paper by Nicholas Fila, an Iowa State University postdoctoral researcher in industrial design and electrical and computer engineering; Kelly Guerin, a junior in industrial design, and Seda McKilligan, an associate professor of industrial design, has been accepted to the Annual Conference of American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE). The paper investigates the use of design thinking in the processes of a cross-functional team redesigning a second-year course for electrical, computer and software engineering students.

This research is funded by the National Science Foundation’s Improving Undergraduate STEM Education / Professional Formation of Engineers: REvolutionizing engineering and computer science Departments (IUSE/PFE: RED).
