Nathan Edwards, associate teaching professor of art and visual culture, has been appointed interim coordinator of the Design Studies 102 studio for the 2021-22 academic  year. This is the design studio course for first-year students in the College of Design’s Core Design Program. He will assume his new responsibilities Aug. 1.

Edwards joined the College of Design faculty in spring 2013, teaching in the interdisciplinary design program and Core Design Program. His focus at Iowa State has been on DSN S 102 and DSN S 302, the Core peer mentor seminar. He was instrumental in launching the highly successful Wearables Design Show with outgoing 102 coordinator Patience Lueth in 2019, and they have continued it virtually throughout COVID-19.

Edwards mentors integrated visual arts graduate students who teach the online ART IS 201 class and, together with art and visual culture professor Ingrid Lilligren, he has developed a new art appreciation class, ART IS 170x. This fall, he will also teach two sections of DSN S 131: Drawing I.
