Kimberly Zarecor, an Iowa State University associate professor of architecture, recently gave two public talks and a conference presentation in the Czech Republic on her research about socialist cities. She spoke about “How the Past Informs the Future of Czech ‘Sidliste'” at the VI PER Gallery in Prague and “Ostrava and the Typology of Socialist Cities” at the Fiducia Antiquarian Bookstore and Club in Ostrava. She presented her paper on “The Socialist City as a Distinct Urban Typology in Postwar Europe” at the 11th Congress of Czech Historians in Olomouc.
