Kimberly Zarecor, professor of architecture, was a featured speaker at the online Rural Renewal Symposium hosted by Oklahoma State University on Oct. 13. She presented “A Research Agenda for Quality of Life in Small and Rural Places.”

Zarecor is also the lead author on a new book chapter about rural smart shrinkage published in Handbook of Quality of Life and Sustainability (Springer, 2020), edited by Javier Martinez, Claudia Andrea Mikkelsen and Rhonda Philips. “Rural Smart Shrinkage and Perceptions of Quality of Life in the American Midwest” (pp.395-415) presents findings from a National Science Foundation-supported interdisciplinary research project about quality of life in rural Iowa. The book is part of Springer’s International Handbooks of Quality-of-Life (IHQL) series.
