Jae-Hwa Lee, assistant professor of interior design, received a summer research grant from the ISU Center for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities. In her project “Articulating the Essence of Creative Female Designers,” Lee will explore multiple perspectives of historically creative female interior designers to document these pioneers’ work and lives. The goals include contributing to the interior design profession’s mission to determine creativity underlying all design activities, providing context for the lack of emphasis on female designers in the mainstream history of design and suggesting how to nurture students and beginning designers.
