Emily Godbey, associate professor of art and visual culture, presented “Butter Sculptures and the Art of Refrigeration” at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, on Oct. 14. This invited public lecture covered the history of sculptures made of butter at Midwestern agricultural fairs, a popular spectacle first made possible with new refrigeration technology.
