Doug Spencer, Pickard Chilton Professor and director of graduate education in the Department of Architecture, has contributed a chapter to Platform Urbanism and its Discontents, edited by Peter Moertenboeck and Helge Mooshammer and published by NAI010 . The book, published in connection with the Austrian contribution to the forthcoming Venice Architecture Biennale, discusses the fundamental transformation of urban space through platform technologies. Spencer’s chapter, “Bearing Capital: Platforms, Performance and Personification,” addresses the intersections of architectural form and the generalization of entrepreneurialism as a normative identity in neoliberal capitalism.
