Daejin Kim, Iowa State University assistant professor of interior design, and Dr. Mi Jung Lee, Dr. Sergio Romero, Dr. Nikolay Bliznyuk and Dr. Gail Castaneda in the department of occupational therapy at the University of Florida have received a $50,000 Health Services Research Grant from the American Occupational Therapy Foundation for their interdisciplinary research project “Predicting Individuals’ Functional Difficulties at Home Using Statistical Machine Learning.” The project aims to develop a program to predict individuals’ functional difficulties at home using machine-learning models. This program will identify individuals in immediate need of receiving home modifications and determine home features and demographic characteristics that most influence their home functioning.
