Clark Colby, lecturer in art and visual culture and ISU Extension and Outreach arts, communication and design 4-H youth program specialist, and Abby Luchsinger, senior in interdisciplinary design from Woodbury, Minnesota, helped run the National 4-H Photography Youth Summit Feb. 28 through March 3 in Washington, DC. Together with four selected youth photographers from across Iowa, they visited Iowa representatives at the Capitol, toured many of the Smithsonian Institution museums from behind the lens and took part in four days’ worth of hands-on photography workshops.

Colby and Luchsinger helped run a photography scavenger hunt, taught digital photography editing and light painting, highlighted the Iowa 4-H Camera Corps Program and helped youth think about photography as a profession.
