“Data for Decision Makers: On-Demand Reports Informing Local Officials” won a National Educational Material Award at the National Association of Community Development Extension Professionals (NACDEP) 2023 awards.

The team includes Christopher Seeger, professor of landscape architecture and extension landscape architect; ISU Extension and Outreach GIS systems analysts Rakesh Shah and Bailey Hanson; Sandra Burke, extension demographic specialist; and Jay Maxwell, extension data analytics specialist.

“Data for Decision Makers: On-Demand Reports Informing Local Officials” consists of brief reports detailing the characteristics of Iowa cities, counties, and regions. Topics referenced include population, demographics, socioeconomics, health and housing characteristics. This team has identified new approaches to working with local and state governments to infuse data insights into decision-making to promote resiliency, support health and well-being and strengthen economic mobility.
