A book chapter by Ben Shirtcliff, associate professor of landscape architecture, has been published in Leisure Communities: Rethinking Mutuality, Collective Expression, and Belonging in the New Century (Routledge, 2021), edited by Troy Glover and Erin Sharpe. Chapter 12, “Parisite Lost: The Utopian Decline of a DIY Skatepark,” pp. 132–44, describes the rise and fall of Parisite, a do-it-yourself skate park in New Orleans, through the lens of social media. The book is part of Routledge’s Critical Leisure Studies Series.
