Bambi Yost

At its April meeting, the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, approved promotion and tenure awards for Iowa State University faculty members for the 2017-18 academic year. Bambi Yost, assistant professor of landscape architecture in the ISU College of Design, was promoted to associate professor with tenure, effective Aug. 16, 2017.

Yost joined the landscape architecture faculty in 2010. She regularly teaches courses in social and behavioral landscapes, principles of research for landscape architects, and advanced landscape architecture and community design studios. She also has taught site planning, designing for health, poetry of place, advanced graphics and representation for landscape architects and portfolio design, as well as the first-year design studio for students in the College of Design’s Core Design Program.

Yost has published and presented widely on place attachment, land art, learning landscapes, landscapes of play and making room for risk in play environments, among other topics. Students in her studios have been recognized with numerous awards, including American Society of Landscape Architects Central States Chapter Merit Awards for a parklet project and master plans developed for several Philadelphia elementary schoolyards. Her students also have received Merit Awards from the Iowa ASLA for Philadelphia schoolyard projects. She received the College of Design Advising Award in 2017.

Yost holds a Bachelor of Science in general arts and sciences from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Landscape Architecture and Master of Urban and Regional Planning, both from the University of Colorado at Denver.
