Anna Segner (MFA 2019 Integrated Visual Arts), assistant teaching professor in art and visual culture, and Naomi Friend (MFA 2013 Integrated Visual Arts) have been selected to paint a three-wall, 540-square-foot mural at the Sac County (Iowa) Conservation Center that depicts the riparian river ecosystem of the North Raccoon River. The mural will feature all four seasons to highlight the varying weather patterns, plant life, animals and migrations in each season.

The mural will celebrate the landscape of Hagge Park, where the conservation center is located, and it will serve as an educational tool for park rangers to help teach visitors, school groups and campers about the park. Segner and Friend will complete the mural later this spring.
