A Cathedral to Aquatic Sonification, a real-time, data-driven sound installation by Alex Braidwood, associate professor of graphic design, will be at Public Space One in Iowa City from June 9–July 1. Sponsored in part by Iowa Lakeside Laboratory, this is an immersive audio experience created with a collection of real-time performance machines installed throughout the PS1 north gallery building. Each machine performs a piece of real-time data collected from water-monitoring buoys located in Iowa’s Great Lakes Region and managed by Iowa Lakeside Lab. An opening reception will be from 5–7 p.m. Thursday, June 9, with a live performance by Braidwood from 5:30–6:15 p.m.
