Alenka Poplin, Luis Rico-Gutierrez, Ulrike Passe

Alenka Poplin, an Iowa State University assistant professor of community and regional planning, presented two papers at the 2nd International Conference on Smart Data and Smart Cities, Oct. 4-6, 2017, in Puebla, Mexico.

“Place-making: An Approach to the Rationale Behind the Location Choice of Power Places. Iowa State University Campus as Case Study,” co-authored with Claudia Yamu and Luis Rico-Gutierrez, dean of the ISU College of Design, has been published in the¬†International Society for Photogammetry¬† and Remote Sensing’s International Archives of the Photogammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, XLII-4/W3, 73-81, 2017.

“Engaging Youth through Spatial Socio-technical Storytelling, Participatory GIS, Agent-based Modeling, Online Geogames and Action Projects,” co-authored with Linda Shenk, ISU associate professor of English; Caroline Krejci and Ulrike Passe, ISU associate professor of architecture, has been published in the ISPRS Annals of the Photogammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, IV-4/W3, 55-62, 2017.
