Architecture faculty earn top honors
 
Two Iowa State University architecture faculty were honored by the Iowa chapter of the American Institute of Architects at its annual convention in Des Moines in September. Mark Engelbrecht, professor of architecture and dean of the ISU College of Design, received the 2008 Medal of Honor for distinguished service to the architecture profession. Professor David Block received the AIA Iowa Educator Award for his contributions to architectural education in Iowa.
 
Associate Professor Marwan Ghandour received the Faculty Award for Extraordinary Performance at the College of Design's annual Awards Day ceremony, April 9.
 
Three faculty members were honored at the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture's annual meeting in Houston at the end of March. Professor Gregory Palermo received the ACSA Distinguished Professor Award. Associate Professor Tom Leslie and Assistant Professor Jason Alread are part of a multidisciplinary team from the ISU College of Design that received the ACSA Creative Achievement Award.
