Grants, Grants, Grants! (and Great Places Designation)

Artists, nonprofit organizations, communities, tribal councils and schools can apply for a new round of Iowa Arts Council grant programs that opened this week.

Eight different grant programs offer funding from $200 to $60,000 for arts projects, fellowships, civic projects, operating and stability support, cultural heritage projects, fiscal stability and arts education. Applications are due online by May 1.

You can also apply for the Iowa Great Places program, which helps showcase the vitality and quality of life in Iowa communities. The application deadline is also May 1.

Iowa Women's Art Exhibit
Iowa Women's Art Exhibition
If you’re a female artist in Iowa, you can apply to be in the Iowa Women’s Art Exhibition on display in the formal office of the Lieutenant Governor at the State Capitol. Works rotate semi-annually and artists receive a $250 stipend. Apply online by May 1.
ArtsLab Deadline March 1
Make sure you and your organization have the skills, ideas and networks to flourish by applying for ArtsLab. The six-month program covers marketing, grooming leaders, creating financial and resource development models, and organizing your infrastructure. Deadline to apply is March 1.
Poetry Out Loud
Poetry Out Loud State Finals on March 5
Students from across Iowa will head to the State Historical Building in Des Moines for the Poetry Out Loud State Finals on Sunday, March 5. Come to see participants recite classic poems and find out who will move on to the National Finals to represent Iowa in Washington, D.C.

Don't miss playwright and storyteller Kevin Kling in Orange City on Friday, Feb. 24. Kling’s commentaries can be heard on National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered,” and his visit will include a performance and storytelling workshop. More information is available on our website.

Arts Scholarship Deadline March 1
The deadline for the Iowa Scholarship for the Arts has been extended to March 1. You’re eligible to apply if you’re graduating from high school this year and planning to major in art at an Iowa college or university next fall.
