Faculty Workshop: Supporting and Managing Staff

SUPPORTING AND MANAGING STAFF (for faculty supervisors)

April 9, 2018; 2:00-4:00pm, Campanile Room, Memorial Union

As a faculty supervisor, we realize you have many demands on your time. This session highlights ISU policies and procedures, and provides valuable resources to help you manage and support your research staff, including Post Docs and Graduate Assistants. As a result, you will be better able to focus on your teaching, research, extension/professional practice, and service. The session will briefly address questions such as the following: What is the difference between P&S staff, Merit staff, Post Docs, Graduate Assistants and hourly staff? Which policies and procedures should I understand in order to master this supervisor role? How can I support staff? What does it take to effectively manage performance? This workshop is led by Brenda Behling, Director of Academic Policy and Personnel, Provost Office; and Stephanie Sobotka, Employee and Labor Relations, UHR

Light refreshments will be provided.
