“Contemporary Lens” is the second Iowa State student exhibition to be installed at Mainframe Studios, following the “Effervescence” show in June. The next show will take place in October.

New artists-in-residence

The First Friday event is also an opportunity to meet the College of Design’s 2024–25 Mainframe Studios alumni artists-in residence.

Audrey Stirling, who received her bachelor of fine arts in integrated studio arts from Iowa State in 2023, and Isabel Wilson, who graduated with her BFA in integrated studio arts in May, are the newest artists selected to participate in the program, which provides free studio space and networking opportunities during the year-long residency at the nonprofit arts collective.

The residency will allow Stirling, who creates handcrafted jewelry, and Wilson, a photographer and graphite artist, to connect with other artists at Mainframe Studios, interact with the community at monthly First Fridays and continue to hone their work.

The two follow 2023 integrated studio arts graduates Lydia Nong and Lorena San Elias Martinez, who completed their residencies at the end of June.
