AMES, Iowa — Lisa Rammig, a senior associate at the structural design firm Eckersley O’Callaghan, will speak about the firm’s work and her own research on transparent glass connections in a lecture at Iowa State University.
Rammig will present “Advancing Transparency” at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, in Kocimski Auditorium, room 101 College of Design. Part of the ISU Department of Architecture’s 2019-2020 Public Programs Series, her lecture is supported by Shive-Hattery Architecture + Engineering.
Rammig joined Eckersley O’Callaghan in 2013 to support the firm’s emerging façade engineering service, which complements its work in structural engineering and envelope design. Since mid-2017, she has been responsible for EOC’s new San Francisco office, growing the studio and presence on the West Coast and the local team after having spent significant project-related time in the Bay Area over the past several years.

Rammig leads many of the façade group’s most challenging projects, including a large corporate campus in California and façade-specific work on a number of high-profile retail stores. Through her education and relationships within the European Façade Network, she remains heavily involved in academia and has built strong links between research and industry. This unique position enables her to identify and integrate innovative products and approaches for practical application on cutting-edge building envelopes.

Rammig directs EOC’s R&D efforts globally, focusing on innovative glass designs and technology while also identifying new areas of research in other materials and novel analysis approaches. In addition to the R&D efforts at EOC, Rammig is part of the Architectural Façades and Products Research Group at TU Delft, where she is pursuing doctoral research on transparent glass connections.
