AMES, Iowa — The work of three Iowa State University faculty members from different art and design disciplines will be highlighted in an exhibition Oct. 13 through Nov. 4 at the ISU Design on Main Gallery, 203 Main St. in downtown Ames.

“Where is Here?” features complementary works by Firat Erdim, assistant professor of architecture; David Parker, lecturer in graphic design; and Olivia Valentine, assistant professor of art and visual culture.

“The rubbings, tracings, fields, mounds, mesas, dispersions and interruptions that constitute the exhibition deal with specificities of place and ground,” Erdim said.

An opening reception will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13. Gallery hours for fall semester are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday; 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday; 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday; and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The gallery is closed Tuesdays and during university breaks and holidays.

Erdim holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the Cooper Union and a Master of Architecture from the University of Virginia. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including Italy, Spain and Turkey. He received the 2014 Founders Rome Prize in Architecture from the American Academy in Rome and the 2016 Santo Foundation Award for Individual Artists.

Parker holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wayne State University and a Master of Fine Arts from the Cranbrook Academy of Art. His work has been exhibited in the Midwest (Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Ohio) and in Italy.
