William Prindle is the principal of William Prindle Design in Santa Barbara, California. Will's approach to contemporary design addresses the aesthetic and functional aspects of everyday objects. His firm assists domestic and international clients in developing new products from concept through manufacture. More than 1,000 of Prindle's designs have been put into production. His client list includes firms in Belgium, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico and Taiwan, as well as in the United States.

The academic research will be conducted while building functional hand tools based on 18th century decorative examples of craftsmen's tools but manufactured using 21st century technology (Powdered Metal Laser Sintering, water jet, rapid prototyping, etc.) and 21st. century decorative forms.
