Carlos Cardoso is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial Design, College of Design, Iowa State University. Carlos has taught and coordinated design courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels on design methodology, research, design studio, creative thinking and group dynamics at Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands (2007/2018). Carlos did his Ph.D. in human-centered design at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom (2000/2004).
His research interests are in the area of creative thinking, design methodology, design cognition and systems thinking. In particular about what new methodologies, methods and creative ways of thinking will be needed in the future to help designers think more systemically about global (wicked) problems and not just ‘artifacts’. Ultimately, to inspire designers to engage in a more inquiry-driven attitude in relation to design and how we might reimagine our built environment especially in this (non-stop) technology driven society.
