Advanced Color Studio

This course has two components. In the first five weeks we will take a deep look at the theory of color and how to apply color. Students will work on individual assignments. In the last part of the course students will apply their color knowledge to the refurbishment of an existing hotel applying use of color and pattern. Students will work in multi-disciplinary teams for this project.
Assignments will include individual and group projects, including a Photo Montage Project, Color Rendering Project, and a Color & Design Project designing custom carpets and fabrics for the hotel.
Course objectives:
- Apply knowledge about color as it relates to the environment and human response
- Develop an understanding of theories of color
- Improve color rendering presentation skills
- Increase research, development and conceptual skills relating to color
- Increase students understanding of color as it relates to culture
- Understand color systems and some historical aspects of colors
Course credits: | 4 credits (with +2 credit independent studio option for Architect, Landscape Architect and Industrial Design students) |
