Peer Mentor Application

Requirements

  1. Sophomore status or higher at time of application. Graduate students strongly encouraged to apply.
    Spend at least 2 hours per week in assigned DSNS 1310 studio section (1 hour per studio session). Participate in the Design Leadership Seminar, DSNS 3020.
    Be available to students outside regularly scheduled studio time whenever possible.

DSN 3020 Course Objective:

Development of teaching/leadership skills under faculty supervision

  • 2 credits, pass/fail, counts as general elective
  • Repeatable up to 4 credits
  • Auto-enrollment upon acceptance into DSNS 1310 Core Peer Mentor Program

Availability

Indicate your availability below. As a mentor you are required to attend the hour-long weekly seminar on Monday evenings from 6-7 p.m. and spend at least two hours per week in an assigned DSNS 1310 studio section.
Studios meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 9-11:50 a.m., 12:10-3 p.m., 3:10-6 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8-10:50 a.m., 11 a.m.-1:50 p.m. Lectures are on Canvas. Lecture is recommended for mentors but not required.

Mentors usually are most helpful when paired with the 1310 instructors they studied with. We will try to schedule your first choice, but this cannot be guaranteed, so your flexibility is appreciated. Please indicate if you are willing to work with any instructor.
