Urban Realities and Design for Community Life – Spring 2024 Rome Program Exhibition
September 23 @ 4:00 pm - October 3 @ 5:00 pm
Work by 50 architecture and landscape architecture students who participated in the College of Design’s Spring 2024 Rome Program will be on display in the “Urban Realities and Design for Community Life” Spring 2024 Rome Program Exhibition, Sept. 23–Oct. 3 in Gallery 181. An opening reception will be from 5–7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, in the gallery and the atrium of the College of Design.
A retirement meet-and-greet with long-time Rome Program resident director and current affiliate faculty member Pia Schneider will be a part of this event. Help us celebrate her career success and service to Iowa State University and the College of Design!
The exhibition will include student design and video projects completed last spring semester in Rome. Individual videos highlighting eight Roman neighborhoods respond to such questions as “what makes a good neighborhood,” “are there university criteria in addition to local specifications” and “how do the dynamics of modern urban planning affect the urban tissue and ultimately the quality of city life?”
A video documentary screening focused on the Tuscolano neighborhood will begin at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 23 on the fourth-floor landing of the College of Design.
