An opening reception for the”Tatreezing Palestine: Mapping of Land, People and Memory” exhibition will be held A reception will be held from 5–8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, in Gallery 181. Artwork will be displayed Nov. 19–Dec. 6 in Gallery 181. The show is a culmination of research completed by master of science in architecture student Amani Taleb under the guidance of Nathalie Frankowski, associate professor of architecture and Design for Critical Futures Faculty Fellow.
The exhibition will feature drawings, films, textile art, and a workshop station that critiques cartography and alternative narratives of land, body, and memory, focusing on Palestinian embroidery (Tatreez) as a feminist, collective form of resistance and a keeper of history. By weaving together stories, memories, and voices from the land, crafts, and textiles, this show offers perspectives on the ongoing military presence and violence in Palestine.
