IDRO Monday Research Seminar: Gendered Interiors: The Intersection of Interior Design and the Home Economics Movement
December 2 @ 12:10 pm - 1:00 pm
In her presentation on “Gendered Interiors: The Intersection of Interior Design and the Home Economics Movement,” Sarah Zenti, assistant professor of interior design, will explore the historical intersection of gender and design through the lens of the home economics movement.
Her work examines how the design of domestic spaces, shaped by traditional gender roles, has influenced and continues to impact gendered perceptions in various fields. Her presentation will highlight how these historical associations still shape contemporary views of design while also fueling efforts to challenge and redefine the field through more inclusive and equitable approach.
Sponsored by the Institute for Design Research and Outreach and open to all. Sandwiches will be provided.
