University Print Society Postcard Print Exchange Exhibition & Silent Auction
November 18 @ 8:00 am - December 6 @ 5:00 pm
The University Print Society’s “24th Postcard Print Exchange Exhibition: Insects and Their Environment” is on view Nov. 18–Dec. 6 in Gallery 181, located on the first floor of the College of Design building on the west side of the Iowa State campus.
The show features 170 postcards on the student-selected theme, “Insects and Their Environment.” Participants were asked to reflect on all the ways insects impact our lives. Submissions were received from 17 states (Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, and Texas) and five other countries (Belgium, Canada, England, South Korea, and the Netherlands).
A public reception with light refreshments will be from 5–6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, in Gallery 181.
All postcards on display are also for sale through bidding process as described in the gallery. Bidding ends at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6.
This is a great opportunity to collect interesting pieces of art or to purchase unusual gifts for friends and family, and help a great cause. Proceeds will help fund student club activities, such as visiting artist lectures, print projects, and supplies for student-run on-campus printmaking workshops. This year, the University Print Society has been able to support two students going to the Mid-America Print Council Conference, and three visiting artists: Jennifer Scheuer, Thomas Wharton, and Nick Phan.
Gallery 181 will be closed November 25–29 for Thanksgiving Break.
