A Crain’s 40 Under 40 honoree, Abalu reimagines the future of work through inclusive ecosystem innovations where people and technology work together for a better world. Her work has been featured in TIME Magazine, Vogue, Smart Planet, Real Simple Magazine, Domino Magazine, Fast Company, ABC, NBC, TED and more.
Abalu received a bachelor of architecture degree from Iowa State in 2001. She previously was chief architect and global head of design and construction at MetLife Inc. in New York City.
Abalu’s talk is part of the 2022 IGNITE Innovation Showcase “Feed the World” keynote event. She will be introduced by College of Design Dean Luis Rico-Gutierrez at 5:35 p.m., and they will have a conversation about “food and security” for about 15 minutes, followed by Q&A with the audience.
