Harmonious Spaces: A Search for Balance and Feng Shui Culture
Event Navigation

Wei Dong is the Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor and Audrey Rothermel Bascom Professor in the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Design Studies. An artist, designer, scholar and teacher, he is fluent in the traditions of Eastern feng shui and Western concepts of space, environment and culture. He is a recognized leader in the integration of digital media into the environmental design process to stimulate creativity and improve visualization skills. And he is internationally renowned for his study of cultural influences on the arts and design — particularly the application of traditional Chinese art/design principles and feng shui culture to Western architecture, interior design and sustainable environmental design.
In his presentation, Dong will share an exhibition he designed that uses feng shui principles to create an experience that harmonizes tensions created by coexisting opposites, with the aim to unite nature and the human-made.
