The Rise of Modern Era Streetcars in the United States: Tensions Between Transportation & Economic Development

Joel Mendez (BS 2010 Community & Regional Planning), assistant professor of urban planning, University of Kansas

Mendez is an assistant professor of urban planning in the School of Public Affairs and Administration at the University of Kansas. He holds a BS in community and regional planning from Iowa State, where he was also a McNair Scholar; an MS in urban planning from Texas A&M University and a PhD from Florida State University. His research interests lie in the intersection between transportation, economic development and social justice.
