Earth Observation Day: Humanitarian Mapping Project
The ISU Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Support and Research Facility and IowaView will host an Earth Observation Day celebration from 10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, in 206 Durham (note location change!). The first half hour will feature a guest speaker discussing remote-sensing research, followed by a mapathon with pizza from 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
You can help add data to the Iowa OpenStreetMap basemap and work on a humanitarian mapping project for an area hit by recent natural disaster. Join the fun and competition as we compete against other schools in this Earth Observation Day Challenge! Contact Amy Logan for more information or check the IowaView website for additional details. Register online for this fun, free event! Participants are asked to bring their own laptops if you’re able (and it’s helpful also to bring a mouse for easier drawing), or indicate if you would like to reserve one.
