Friday Research Seminar: Designing for Disaster Relief and Resiliency
Rob Whitehead, an associate professor of architecture, will talk about his book project, Designing for Disaster Relief and Resiliency, which examines the role designers can play in the creation of places, objects and operations to support the larger efforts of disaster relief and/or community resiliency. Whitehead will present a range of proposals he’s helped develop that address critical issues of water security, retrofitting buildings for improved seismic and lateral structural resistance, and innovations in the deployability of sheltering structures.
His talk is part of the Friday Research Seminar Series sponsored by the Institute for Design Research and Outreach. All are welcome to attend this brown-bag session. Cookies will be provided.
