May 22 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Event Navigation

The Iowa State Historic Preservation Office and the Urban Land Institute of Iowa will co-sponsor a free screening of Citizen Jane: Battle for the City, a 2017 documentary in which “writer and urban activist Jane Jacobs fights to save historic New York City during the ruthless redevelopment era of urban planner Robert Moses in the 1960s.” A roughly 30-minute panel discussion will follow the 90-minute film. The discussion will include local (Iowa) preservation and planning challenges, how things have changed and how they’ve remained the same since the events depicted in the film. Ted Grevstad-Nordbrock, ISU assistant professor of community and regional planning, will participate as a panelist.
