Expanding Diversity Perspectives II Workshop

This workshop will focus on pedagogical strategies that foster appreciation for and commitment to honoring diversity, equity and inclusion within and beyond the classroom and studio. Mark Grey, professor of anthropology and director of the Iowa center for Immigrant Leadership and Integration at the University of Northern Iowa, will give a presentation on “Knowing Your Cultural Context.”

The goal is for College of Design classrooms, studios and support services to be spaces where all students have the same opportunities, are treated without discrimination and are engaged in inclusive dialogues. The college also hopes to increase the number of courses and studios that expand students’ cultural awareness and engage diverse communities.
