Berlin 2017: Parametric Urban Interlock
The 2017 Berlin Summer Academy explored new typological approaches to a section of the city at the southern entrance to a new urban park developed on a former railway corridor, addressing urban form, construction types, structure, circulation, the building envelope and the urban space between.
The program was developed by Iowa State University in collaboration with the Foerdergemeinschaft Bauwesen e.V. Berlin, the City College of New York and the German University of Technology in Muscat, Oman. Nine architecture students from ISU, seven from CCNY and seven from GUtech collaborated on seven projects, which will be presented for one week in the College of Design’s Lightfoot Forum.
