Women leaders’ advancement in the last half-century has been remarkable in many ways. Women can be found among the heads of state and the presidencies of major universities; they are counted among cabinet officers and Nobel Prize winners. So, how should women aspiring to leadership positions proceed?
In the field of leadership, the discussion around gender and leadership is moving away from the “glass ceiling” idea and rather articulating the unique challenges of females in leadership roles in terms of a “leadership labyrinth.” Lindsay Hastings will give the keynote presentation (7 p.m.) on today’s unique challenges associated with females in leadership roles and the power of female friendship in developing the next generation of female leaders.
