The Future of Bissell Road
Bissell Road currently supports bus and vehicular traffic, parking, bicycles and pedestrian circulation. Over the past eight years, several new buildings — including the Biorenewables Research Laboratory, Elings Hall, Sukup Hall, Coover Addition and King Pavilion — have been constructed on recreational and open space on the western edge of campus. Construction will soon begin on the Student Innovation Center (SIC).
Utility work for the SIC project will require the demolition and reconstruction of Bissell from Osborn Drive to Union Drive. This “clean slate” provides an opportunity to consider optional roadway configurations that could enhance pedestrian safety, reduce traffic load and improve campus character through this corridor.
Join Facilities Planning and Management at this open house to discuss existing Bissell Road conditions, your concerns and what improvements you would like to see in the new roadway design. Faculty, staff and students are invited to stop by to share your thoughts.
