AUID Scholarship

Description

The Association of University Interior Designers (AUID) offers up to three $1,000 scholarships annually. An applicant must be a junior or senior undergraduate student, enrolled full time in an AUID member university's interior design program by the end of spring term. (Students who will have just graduated by the May 31 deadline are eligible to apply.) If there is not an AUID member at your institution but you are interning with an AUID member from another institution, you may apply. Previous winners of the AUID scholarship cannot re-apply for two years after their initial award.  Past winners can be viewed at www.auid.org

Applicants must submit ALL of the following to the scholarship chairperson for their application to be considered. Applications that are missing any of these documents will not be considered.

  1. A cover letter introducing yourself and how you learned of the AUID organization.
  2. A typed application form or resume--listing work experience, honors/awards, extracurricular activities, organization memberships and positions held, and any other pertinent information.
  3. A 500-word essay/personal statement detailing your aspirations and goals for your design degree.
  4. A letter of recommendation from either a present or former employer, a design professional or a professor having direct knowledge of your academic and work performance within your degree program. The recommendation letter must also be received by May 31.
  5. Verification of your undergraduate enrollment with an official transcript.

Selection criteria include essay review by scholarship committee members; academic achievement; extracurricular and community service activities; honors and awards received while enrolled in college; letter of recommendation.

Barbara King Landscape Architecture Scholarship for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

  • Plan to enter a College of Design degree program
  • Have earned an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited community college in Iowa 
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Have demonstrated financial need (FAFSA must be on file with ISU)
  • Write a 500-word essay addressing the following:
    • Individual determination to succeed
    • Motivation to earn a four-year university degree
    • Future goals and plan to achieve them

Awarded to three (3) students enrolled in the Interior Design Program, with preference given to students participating in the College of Design Rome Program. Design Ambassador Club (DAC) Scholarship

The Design Ambassadors Club scholarship is a nonrenewable $1000 portfolio-based award given annually to an undergraduate student entering the College of Design. Amount and number of awards vary based upon available funds.

Eligibility
Any graduating high school senior who has applied for admission and been accepted to Iowa State University and plans to enter any of the programs in the College of Design may be considered for the award(s).

Initial Selection
Based upon a review of the application information, the award(s) will be made by the Design Ambassadors Club and the College of Design Honors and Award Board. The primary criterion will be portfolio strenght based upon images posted to social media with the College tagged in the posts. The recipients will be those who best combine evidence of high artistic ability and academic excellence.

  3. have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Preference shall be given to students who are involved in student organizations or the activities of the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs.

Diane Cone Boody Fine Arts Scholarship

Description

Awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior student in the art and design and/or ISA BFA curriculum (craft design, drawing/painting/printmaking, or visual studies concentration). Based dominantly on portfolio review of student work. Student must have 1 semester left in course work. Selection is made by the scholarship and awards committee members in the arts and visual culture, graphic design, and interior design departments. Student selected to receive this scholarship will be requested to write a one-page thank you letter to the scholarship's donor(s).

Scholarship application, resume, disk portfolio, and the recommendation forms are due no later than February 22, 2016, 9:00 a.m., to room 146 College of Design.  Late and/or incomplete scholarship applications and materials will not be reviewed.

DLR Architecture Scholarship

The Elizabeth Kirke Memorial Award is available to an undergraduate student who is entering their senior year in the Department of Graphic Design in 2016-17 academic year.   The recipient shall demonstrate a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. The recipient shall demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid. (FAFSA must be filed.) All scholarships awarded shall be for one year; this scholarship is not renewable.

Description

The Gary Tartakov Design Scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students who are residents of Iowa, demonstrate high academic accomplishment (GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale), and have demonstrated financial need (FAFSA must be on file with ISU).  Preference will be given to students studying a program in art and design (AVC, GR DSN, or INTERIOR DSN) and who will be studying abroad.  This scholarship is for one semester.  

Student selected to receive this Scholarship will be requested to write a one-page thank you letter to the scholarship's donor(s).

The award is given to a graduating senior who not only has high academic and design achievement but who represents Jon Crose's professional values and enduring love of both landscape architecture and broader Midwestern region.  Recipients shall be majoring in landscape architecture; have a high academic achievement, and a minimum cumulative grade point of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  Preference shall be given to students who have expressed an interest in the general practice of landscape architecture and an interest in establishing a practice in the Midwestern United States.  All awards shall be for one (1) semester and available to graduating seniors.

Awarded to a full-time junior or senior student in interior design for summer internship expenses. Student receiving the scholarship must be completing their internship during the forthcoming summer and must show financial need.  Selection is made by the interior design faculty. Preferences will be given to someone interested in the city design market areas in using the internship experience to achieve maximum personal development. The student selected should show active and serious interest in Interior Design and future potential for professional achievement in this field. Student(s) selected to receive this scholarship will be requested to write a one-page thank you letter to the scholarship's donor(s).

Recipient shall show financial need. A FAFSA must be on file with the student financial aid office.

Marvin R. Springer Scholarship in Community & Regional Planning

A $1,000 scholarship awarded to a student who has is applying for entry to the Community & Regional Planning degree program.  The award is renewable each year in the CRP program based on certain criteria (if interested, please see email Mandy Youngquist amyoung@iastate.edu for a detailed list of criteria) and demonstrated financial need.  The student must submit an application, a 300-word written statement, high school transcript including GPA and class ranking, ACT or other nationally recognized test scores, record of extracurriculiar and other enrichment activities, and a letter of reference from 1) a high school teacher; (2) an extracurricular activity supervisor or employer; and 3) a classmate or other peer of the applicant.

$1,000 scholarship.  One award is given.

Open to full-time undergraduate architecture students enrolled in the professional program (first year students accepted into the professional program may be considered).  Preference is given to students interested in pursuing a career in hospital or institutional design and who have demonstrated financial need.

Rome and International Study Scholarship

SACI ICFAD Full-Tuition Scholarship

Description

The SACI ICFAD scholarship covers tuition for a full semester at SACI and is for a talented or academically gifted undergraduate student. Financial need will also be taken into consideration. A student may receive this scholarship for his or her first semester of study at SACI during the fall or Springterms. (Scholarship applicants who are not awarded the SACI iCFAD Full-Tuition Scholarship are automatically reviewed for other SACI scholarship awards).

Sandy Rogers May Interior Design Scholarship

Description

This scholarship is open to undergraduate students in the Department of Interior Design who are pursuing the opportunity to study abroad in Rome. The Interior Design faculty shall be responsible for the selection of the recipient and for the distribution of funds.  Recipient must show financial need. A FAFSA form must be on file with the Office of Student Financial Aid.  Recipients shall have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.  Applicant must demonstrate leadership ability through participation in extra-curricular or community organizations and activities as determined by the administering authority. Examples of extra-curricular activities include involvement in recognized student organizations, professional organizations or community service.  Recipient(s) shall be participating in a Rome study abroad program.  All awards shall be for one (1) semester and may not be renewed.  

The actual monetary award will be applied toward the student's University tuition.  Student(s) selected to receive this scholarship will be requested to write a one-page thank you letter to the scholarship donor(s).

If you apply for more than one Interior Design scholarship, you DO NOT need multiple copies of the Scholarships/Awards Recommendation Forms.  Two recommendations from faculty members is all that is needed - thus, only (2) two Scholarships/Awards Recommendation forms need to be submitted for your scholarship application.

Scott E. Olson Leadership/Community Service Award

Established to recognize a student for exemplary leadership and community service.

$1,250 Scholarship.

Open to undergraduate students in the architecture program.  (For students who apply during their first year of study the award is contingent upon their acceptance into the professional program.)  The recipient must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate financial need.  Preference will be given to students who display leadership and participation in school and community activities.

Silverson Family Community & Regional Planning Study Abroad Scholarship

The Silverson Family Community & Regional Planning Study Abroad Scholarship has been created to provide scholarships for students in the department of Community & Regional Planning who will be participating in a study abroad opprotunity.  Students should have demonstrated financial need (FAFSA on file with the university) and have a mininum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). 

Recipients should have demonstrated leadership as evidenced by participation in extracurricular or community organizations and activites.  

SOM Prize and Travel Fellowship for Architecture, Design and Urban Design

The SOM Prize is a $50,000 Research and Travel Fellowship which enables an outstanding student to do in-depth research, meet with other professionals in the field, and pursue independent study outside the realm of established patterns. A $20,000 Travel Fellowship will be awarded to a runner-up.

Therese Warburton Applied Art Fund Scholarship

Wendy Marie Noteboom Ewell Scholarship

Description

The Wendy Marie Noteboom Ewell Scholarship has been established at Iowa State University for the benefit of qualifying art students. Wendy, age 30, died on July 8, 2005. She graduated from Iowa State in 1998 with a degree in biomedical illustration, studied at the Art Students League in New York City, and went on to establish a career as a successful painter. She exhibited her paintings widely throughout New York, Tucson, Ariz., and Michigan, receiving numerous awards and honors including a Special Opportunity Stipend from the New York Foundation for the Arts.  Her exquisite paintings can be enjoyed on her website at www.wendyewell.com.  

Criteria:  A $1,000 awarded to a junior or senior enrolled in art courses through the Department of Art and Visual Culture with preference given to female students studying in the fine arts.  Recipients must maintain a GPA of 3.0.  Selection will be made by the faculty in the Department of Art and Visual Culture.

Scholarship application, resume, and the recommendation forms are due no later than February 1, 2016 at 5:00 p.m., to room 146 College of Design.  Student(s) selected to receive this scholarship will be expected to write a one-page thank you letter to the scholarship's donor(s).

William M. Dikis, FAIA Architecture Service Scholarship

William M. Dikis, FAIA, has served the public and profession throughout his career in architecture.  This named scholarship has been established by the AIA Iowa Chapter Board to recognize students that exemplify Dikis' spirit of professional service.  Recipients should demonstrate service to the profession, the Department of Architecture, or the public using their professional education and skills gained as a student of architecture.

Up to $1,200 will be awarded; one or more awards may be given.

Open to both undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Department of Architecture. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and must have demonstrated volunteerism, leadership and service to the public or profession, utilizing professional education or skills.
