Applying to a Degree Program

Major Admission Criteria

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have made changes to our Major Admission Criteria to facilitate the different needs of our students.  Instead of Core GPA,  your best 12 credits will be considered. These best 12 credits could be just from fall 2019 or could include grades from spring 2020 (if you choose not to take the P/NP option). These best 12 credits may or may not include Core courses. If you transferred from another college or university, your GPA can come from your prior institution.  All Core GPA calculations below will be replaced with this new policy for Fall 2020 program admissions.

Each program utilizes an individual formula for admission as follows:

Architecture

  1. Core GPA: 35% (The best 14 credit hours from Core, but including DSN S 102, 131, and 183 and at least 3 credits from MATH 145 or PHYS 111, will be calculated.)
  2. Portfolio: 50%
  3. RAI: 15%

Graphic Design

  1. Core GPA: 50% (Only the best 26 credit hours from the Core, but including DSN S 102, 131 and 183, will be calculated.)
  2. Portfolio: 50%

Industrial Design

  1. Core GPA: 70% (Only the best 26 credit hours from the Core, but including DSN S 102, 131 and 183, will be calculated.)
  2. Portfolio: 30%

Integrated Studio Arts

  1. Cumulative GPA: 40% (Only the best 26 credit hours, but including DSN S 102, 131 and 183, will be calculated.)
  2. Portfolio: 60%

Interior Design

  1. Core GPA: 45% (Only the best 26 credit hours from the Core, but including DSN S 102, 131 and 183, will be calculated.)
  2. Portfolio: 40%
  3. High school ranking: 15%

Landscape Architecture

  1. Core GPA: 60% (Only the best 26 credit hours from the Core, but including DSN S 102, 131 and 183, will be calculated.)
  2. Portfolio: 30%
  3. RAI: 10%
