“Cube3” a project by fifth-year architecture students Yahia Mohamed and Garrett Stirling, received an Emerging Professional – Built & Unbuilt Honor Award in the 2022 American Institute of Architects Central States Excellence in Design Awards program hosted by AIA Nebraska.
Mohamed and Stirling developed their project in the ARCH 401 studio taught by architecture associate professor Shelby Doyle, the Stan G. Thurston Professor in Design Build. The concept is a factory to serve as a seed for housing proposals to alleviate inequalities manifested through the redlining practices of the 20th century in Des Moines.
